Really glad you took the time to check that one out.

I'm obsessed w/it and don't really expect anyone to declare as I do that it's the "best ever" show...it just is to my ears, and THE prime example of what made 1977 such an incredible year.

You sum it up well--the 1st set is almost as powerful as the 2nd, and you can tell right from the killer MIGHT AS WELL opener it's a magic night.

10/29/77 has all time favorite versions for me of ALL the following:

MIGHT AS WELL, JACK STRAW, FOTD, BERTHA, EYES, ST STEPHEN, BLACK PETER and SUGAR MAG (did you hear Weir start to crack up before the SSDD, after Mickey and Billy do that crazy impromptu drum duet at the end of SugarMag? listen again if you missed it).
